The Perfect Christmas present for the kids – a day out at Efteling Theme Park, Netherlands

We love to offer experiences for Christmas. The kids have something to look forward to and the memories last far longer than their interest in the latest toys.

We invite you to explore Efteling Theme Park with us. This was an early birthday present for my son ( born In December) but would have been equally great as a Christmas present. The Winter theme at Efteling is simply magical, with lights, bone fires and a Christmas market. He keeps asking every day when we will be back.

Pays de Fayence is the hinterland of the French riviera. This is where savy holidaymakers go to escape the crowds on the Cote d’Azure and enjoy the nature and laid back atmosphere of the Provence and its delicious food. You can still reach the Mediteranean Sea in about 45 minutes by car if you want to lay on the beach and swim in the sea. But it feels a world away, quiet and authentic compared with the souless seaside resorts.

Getaway to Normandy – best children friendly restaurants in Honfleur and how we failed to find the gardens of Etretat

Normady is a region that hides many lovely gems, often ignored by tourists that head up to Brittany and its lovely beaches. One of your first destinations here should be Mont-Saint-Michel, the world famous fortress surrounded by water (more about our visit here). The is also the region’s star city, Deauville, a chic seaside destination very popular with Parisians. But once the main tourist attractions are crossed from the list, it pays off to spend some time discovering less known cities and indulge in the local fresh seafood. From about the time I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to use part of my parental leave to travel. The usual yearly holidays are a good place to start but, as I was looking at a few extra months of leave once the LO would join us, I wanted to use them to travel as well.
