Ultimate 4-week road-trip itinerary in New Zealand with the family

This post was very long in the making. Buried for months under a pile of successive lockdowns, Corona measures and impossible travel restrictions that shifted all my attention to day-to-day life. This was our last overseas trip before Corona became more than a beer brand.

But with measures easing and Europe getting back to some sort of normal, it is my way of showing optimism for 2022 travel. Buckle up for the ultimate, day by day, 4-week itinerary in New Zealand’s North and South Islands with lots of tips on accommodation and great restaurants and activities for kids all ages.

A tip for a rainy day in Brussels – a visit to the Comics Art Center

We did not count upon many rainy days at the end of May but here we are again. The Belgian weather is always full of surprises that…. involve strong winds and constant rain, so not the good kind. Here we are again scrambling for indoor activities to keep the kiddo entertained. He recently got into comics so we decided to investigate more into one of his favourite blue, fun-loving characters. Here is what we found out!

The largest Belgian chocolate museum in the world in Antwerp, Belgium

Antwerp has lots of cool activites to offer to families, including a city zoo, a large playground in the City park and lots of chocolate. The most recent attraction is dedicated to the most famous Belgian export, aside from beer and comics: dark chocolate.

Top 5 museums to visit with children in Brussels

During this last year we we had plenty of time to explore Belgium’s indoor and outdoor attractions. We decided to revisit some of our favorite museums and share our impressions with other desperate parents looking for a reason to leave the house while the phone is uncooperatively showing a rainy weather forecast, which almost never happens in Belgium (the rain, not the uncooperation)…..is what I would like to say, but I would be lying.

Here is our ultimate list of museums to visit with children in Brussels, Belgium:

A daytrip to Córdoba, Spain – top 5 things to do or visit with the kids

We visited Córdoba during a sunny day in May. We started from Seville by high speed AVE train and arrived in 45 min to Córdoba station. A 15 min walk from the Station takes you in the heart of the city. It is all very compact and easy to access, perfect for a day trip.

The only slight challenge was pushing a pram on the cobblestone streets of the Juderia but with a bit of patience we managed to navigate them with our old and faithful McLaren Quest.

A long week-end in Saint-Petersburg – a sightseeing itinerary for families and a few delicious Russian restaurants

We took this trip in June 2019 but, with all the travelling during Summer and the birth of our daughter in September, I kept postponing writing about it. Although not one of the easiest destinations, mainly due to the visa restrictions, I was pleasantly surprised how accessible and even reasonably priced it is once you pass the airport immigration booth.

We bought the flights about 7 months before the travel date. The only thing that was putting us off a bit was the need to get a visa. But, Continue reading “A long week-end in Saint-Petersburg – a sightseeing itinerary for families and a few delicious Russian restaurants”

A 3-week family road trip in Scandinavia – itinerary covering Denmark, Sweden and Norway

We did this road trip between early to end July 2019. That is high season in Scandinavia as most children return to School in August. I really dread travelling in high season but we did not have a choice this time. We wanted to take one longer holiday with our son before welcoming his sister and I was beyond 28 weeks pregnant when we set out from Berlin. There was no way I could have waited for mid-August!

What to see, where to eat and how to get the most out of your time in Beijing, China

Beijing is, as expected, absolutely huge. It has the most extensive metro system in the world and that says it all. The metro will be your best (and very affordable) friend if you want to pack the main attractions within 5-6 days of reasonably paced sightseeing.
