Romanian traditional food – our favorite dishes from the trip in Romania

We do not have much content about Romania on the site. Truth is that, until about half a decade ago, it was not too much of a tourist destination, certainly not for the Western Europeans. It was more of a hidden secret in Eastern Europe and few travellers would put it on their list. Things have started changing slightly as people look for more affordable European destinations, particularly in Summer, when the European South is full to the brim. This year in particular, after having weathered the pandemic with a reasonably good track record, Romania seems to have found some appeal to the international tourist. Which is great, as there are lots of great sports to uncover and food to try out.

I spend part of my university years in Bucharest and was sure I knew everything about the city. But after taking a tour with the help of a kind and knowledgeable guide and with two kinds in tow, it seems that I did not know all that much really.

During our 3h tour we found out many interesting things about Romania’s capital. We selected the best bits to share them with you and hopefully provide some inspiration should you decide to visit Romania one day. It is a bit rough around the edges but with a bit of time to explore, it will always hold a special place your heart.

7 places to visit in the Provence, Pays de Fayence – outdoor fun for the entire family

Pays de Fayence is the hinterland of the French riviera. This is where savy holidaymakers go to escape the crowds on the Cote d’Azure and enjoy the nature and laid back atmosphere of the Provence and its delicious food. You can still reach the Mediteranean Sea in about 45 minutes by car if you want to lay on the beach and swim in the sea. Normady is a region that hides many lovely gems, often ignored by tourists that head up to Brittany and its lovely beaches. And this is where Honfleur comes in! Continue reading “Getaway to Normandy – best children friendly restaurants in Honfleur and how we failed to find the gardens of Etretat”

A daytrip to Córdoba, Spain – top 5 things to do or visit with the kids

We visited Córdoba during a sunny day in May. We started from Seville by high speed AVE train and arrived in 45 min to Córdoba station. A 15 min walk from the Station takes you in the heart of the city. It is all very compact and easy to access, perfect for a day trip.

The only slight challenge was pushing a pram on the cobblestone streets of the Juderia but with a bit of patience we managed to navigate them with our old and faithful McLaren Quest.

A 3-week family road trip in Scandinavia – itinerary covering Denmark, Sweden and Norway

We did this road trip between early to end July 2019. That is high season in Scandinavia as most children return to School in August. I really dread travelling in high season but we did not have a choice this time. We wanted to take one longer holiday with our son before welcoming his sister and I was beyond 28 weeks pregnant when we set out from Berlin. There was no way I could have waited for mid-August!
